The Past: Honoring Our Legends for Future Generations

My administration will bring the legends of the game into the limelight to inspire the next generation of stars. There is an urgent need to demonstrate that football is a rewarding career by immortalizing our nation’s heroes. My vision includes:

    •  Institution of the FKF Hall of Fame to recognize and reward the legends.
    •  Establishment of a Legends of Kenya Fund with transparent policies to ensure sustainable monetary inflows.
    •  Establishment of a retirement benefits scheme with adequate health cover.

This initiative aims to honor our football icons and create a sustainable framework that supports their legacy while inspiring future talents in the sport.

My administration will seek to restore the gravitas of the FKF and invigorate local football to draw back massive public enthusiasm through

    1. Going back to basics to build Kenyan football from the grassroots. This will be by investing significantly to put in place structures for competitive leagues at the grassroot with adequate resourcing.
    2. Focus on infrastructure with the development of stadia and training facilities in partnership with strategic partners across the country
    3. Restructuring regional and national leagues for both men and women’s football to ensure the leagues are competitive, transparent, economically sustainable, and financially rewarding.
    4. Deploy modern technology in the management of the leagues, monitoring and growing talent, and engaging the fanbase to restore the passion for the game across the country.
    5. Build the capacity of refereeing and improve their welfare through adequate remuneration and facilitation of officials to curtail instances of match fixing.
    6. Revamp the national teams, the Stars and the Starlets, with adequate resources and technical support including development of a national football philosophy and a robust curriculum.
    7. Boosting the quality of the game and ensuring a great fan experience to attract strategic partners and increase revenues by bringing back the crowds to the games.
    8. . Concerted efforts to build capacity in the ecosystem including technical training, financial literacy, and personal development where applicable for players, coaches, administrators, medics, nutritionists, and broadcasters

The immediate aim shall be to lay down a solid structure towards achieving two goals:

    • Roll out a comprehensive development plan for construction of football facilities.
    • Qualify for a major international tournament (AFCON, Olympics, and World Cup)
    • Ensure Kenya is ready to host and have a successful run in AFCON 2027.

The FKF under my administration will seek to entrench new hope in the future careers of the next generation of Kenya’s stars:

    1. Establish a robust relationship with learning institutions from primary school level to identify and nurture young talent.
    2. Promote and support national schools’ competition through scholarship opportunities, equipment, and refurbishment of school pitches.
    3. Develop dedicated talent hubs for u10, u14, and u17 levels in partnership with G.o.K, FIFA, and development partners.
    4. Collaborate with world renowned academies such as Aspire, ManUtd Soccer Schools, Barcelona’s La Masia, among others for skills transfer and exchange programs.

Immediately develop the National football scholarship system, where a steady stream of the most talented players will be identified, supported through high school, and funneled into high level competitive football. By onboarding strategic partnerships, Kenya will be able to consolidate the aspiration of the youth and sustainably build the country into a footballing powerhouse.

Embark on setting up at least 4 top level talent hubs over the next 3 years, strategically situated in different zones across Kenya to identify, nurture, and funnel talent to the topflight. Football is the nation’s game, with millions of talented youngsters failing to reach their potential due to inadequate exposure and formative training. These concerted efforts are aligned with the best practices globally, as demonstrated by Germany who put a dedicated plan to win the World Cup within 10 years and achieved it in 2028.
